Jane met Chief Superintendent Stuart Parfitt recently to discuss policing across the Vale of Glamorgan. She emphasised the importance of raising public awareness of the 24/7 public service,  and urged constituents to contact 101 when they need every day advice and support from the police, as well as the 999 calls they may need to make in times of emergency.

Chief Superintendent Parfitt clarified that the front desk at Barry Police Station is open 8am to 6pm each day,  and highlighted the following other means of contacting South Wales Police for non-emergencies:

·         The 101 non-emergency number should be used to report non-urgent crime and for general inquiries. It’s the number to call if your car gets stolen for example, or if you want to report drug use or dealing, if your property gets damaged or to speak to an officer.

 ·         If you are deaf, hard of hearing or speech-impaired you can textphone 18001 101. If you are hearing-impaired you can also contact our minicom service on 01656 656 980.

·         Alternatively you can contact the Public Service Centre by fax on 01656 869 562 or email:Publicservicecentre@south-wales.pnn.police.uk

·         Alternatively you can contact the Public Service Centre by fax on 01656 869 562 or email:Publicservicecentre@south-wales.pnn.police.uk

·         Keep Safe Cymru service users can also register with Next Generation Text Service. The organisation provides an App, which will make it much easier for people with hearing and speech impairment to make phone calls – it can be accessed via: http://ngts.org.uk
