Jane is so impressed by the stunning redevelopment of Barry Pumphouse she think it deserves a design award.

The Pumphouse, an important local landmark with its imposing 42-metre high chimney, is one of the last reminders of Barry Docks’ heydey during the early 20th Century. It has been redeveloped by DS Properties to include restaurants, offices, gym and 15 purpose built live/work apartments.

Jane recently visited the redeveloped Grade II historic building, one of the last remaining hydraulic pumphouses in Wales, with Lesley Griffiths, Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty, Vale of Glamorgan Cllr Lis Burnett, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Simon Baston Director of DS Properties.

The development is a flagship regeneration project within the Innovation Quarter, a joint venture between the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Welsh Government.

Jane said: ‘The redevelopment is very impressive. It deserves an award. The attention to detail and the finishing touches are incredible. The transformation of the building is utterly unbelievable.’
