Jane opened the most recent exhibition to take place at the Travellers’ Gallery, Barry Station. The exhibition, entitled, “Barry in Stitches” has been set up by Barry Hookers’ Crochet and Craft group, who meet on a weekly basis at Coffee Cove coffee and wine bar, Barry Island. The group has been running now for almost 3 years, and having outgrown its original venue at Barry library it now has 67 members. The most recent work is a group effort, and consists of the ideas about Barry from the group. It is worked in different ways including crochet, sewing, quilting, knitting and cross stitch.
The exhibition was opened by Assembly Member Jane Hutt, who said,
” I was delighted to open the Barry in Stitches exhibition at the Mind in the Vale Gallery Barry Town Station and to donate one of the beautiful canvases to MENCAP to support Barry project worker Sian Rodgers.”
The other two canvases will be donated to Mind in the Vale, who host the Travellers Gallery in their cafe at Barry Station, and to the RNLI, who will place it in their shop on Barry Island when the exhibition is over.
The craft group meets every Wednesday at Coffee Cove, and new members are always welcome. We also work closely with other groups in the local area, please feel free to come along and join us.
