The Vale Homework Club at Stewart Road Community Centre in Rhoose is run by volunteers and led by award winning Adult Learner Cath Watkins. The Club is making a huge difference to children and young people.
That was Jane Hutt’s view when she visited the Sunday afternoon ‘drop in’ Maths session to meet parent volunteers and young people attending the club, which is supported by the Vale Youth Service.
Jane has been a long term supporter of the Homework Club which has recently been registered as a charity. She has met the beneficiaries who told her that the club has made a ‘huge difference’ helping them prepare for their exams and helping to catch up on their learning outside of school. Jane Hutt said,
” We are very fortunate to have such an inspiring initiative based in Rhoose making such a difference to the educational prospects of children and young people in the Vale.
The voluntary commitment of parents who themselves are successful Adult Learners is fantastic as we celebrate Adult Learners Week on the 25th of June. Congratulations again to Cath Watkins and her volunteers!”
