The rain stayed away for the wonderful Concert in the Park at Belvedere Crescent, next to the Castleland Community Centre, on Saturday. There was entertainment from the Barry Tenovus Sing With Us choir, the Vale People First Real Lives Choir, the South Wales Police Band and the young people’s rap group.
Jane Hutt AM compered the afternoon, after welcoming the Mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan, Cllr Stuart Egan and members of the local community who attended. Guest of honour was Eileen Moore, who is retiring after many years as volunteer manager of the Community Centre.
Jane said:-
” It was a memorable and poignant Concert in Castleland on Saturday, with the Tenovus Barry ‘Sing with Us’ Choir performing brilliantly followed by Real Lives Choir and South Wales Police Band.
But we were sad to say goodbye to Eileen Moore – after 18 years serving our community, she is retiring to her home town of Liverpool.
She leaves the Castleland Community Centre with great prospects, having secured a £45k grant from the Waterloo Foundation to employ a Community Centre Manager after undertaking that role voluntarily for so long. She will be greatly missed, and we thank for all she has done in the community in Wales.”
