Vale AM Jane Hutt has taken a step towards helping to end the stigma surrounding dementia by becoming a Dementia Friend and supporting Alzheimer’s Society Cymru’s vision of a dementia-friendly Wales.
There are some 45,000 people in Wales with dementia, by 2055 there will be more than 100,000 people living with dementia. Vaughan Gething, Cabinet Secretary for Health recently announced the Welsh Government Dementia Action Plan committing to making Wales a dementia-friendly nation.
Jane, who received her dementia-friendly training from Sophie Douglas of Alzheimer’s Society Cymru, said: ‘I was pleased to learn a little bit more about what it’s like to live with dementia. With a growing number of people living with dementia, it’s more important than ever that we all have a better understanding of the condition.’
