BIOMASS UK NO. 2 Ltd:  RESPONSE TO SCHEDULE 5 NOTICE

On Thursday evening 3rd August, Jane Hutt AM chaired two meetings with representatives of the Docks Incinerator Action Group (DIAG) at Castleland Community Centre, Barry.

The first meeting was with Associated British Ports and the second with Natural Resources Wales.  Both meetings were constructive, and provided an opportunity for an open exchange of views concerning the Biomass UK No. 2 Ltd plant currently under construction at Woodham Road, Barry.

The purpose of the meeting with NRW was to study the response by Biomass UK No. 2 Ltd to the request for further information issued by Natural Resources Wales under Schedule 5 of the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016.

It was agreed that DIAG and NRW would continue to work together in analysing the response by Biomass UK No. 2 Ltd to the Schedule 5 notice, and both committed to exchanging information during the current period of consultation, and beyond.

NRW made it clear that they welcome all representations from DIAG and residents, and all submissions will be considered as part of their assessment of the Schedule 5 response during the period of consultation and beyond.

The NRW website explains how the Biomass Response to the Schedule 5 Notice can be viewed (https://naturalresources.wales/?lang=en)

Comments on the new information should be sent to Natural Resources Wales, Permitting Service, Cambria House, 29 Newport Road, CF24 0TP or by email to permittingconsultations@naturalresourceswales.gov.uk

The next meeting with NRW and DIAG will be convened in September.
