Every September, MacMillan encourages people all over the UK to host coffee mornings to raise funds for the cancer support charity. This year I was privileged to co-host an event at Golau Caredig, the Hafod Care facility in Barry, along with Action for Elders. I was so pleased and impressed with the number of people who came along, including local firefighters, who all enjoyed coffee and cakes. This event raised a very impressive £800.25!
I also went to other Macmillan coffee mornings, including one at the Senedd sponsored by Julie Morgan AM, where I shared a cup of tea and a cake with Cowbridge School pupil Lowri, who has been volunteering with MacMillan in her spare time.
Then on Friday 28th September I was able to attend a number of Macmillan fundraisers organised by High St businesses, including Knights Estate Agents, Food for Thought Delicatessen and the GrindHouse Cafe,
Barry Comprehensive School pupils organised their own fundraiser, then later that day I went over to Barry Island to meet Barry Soroptimists, who had the great idea of holding their coffee morning in one of the beach huts.
I am so very proud of all the Vale groups, businesses and individuals who supported MacMillan this year. Thank you all.
