I was so pleased to meet the trustees and volunteers at Rhoose Community Library recently. I heard all about the exciting developments that have taken place over the past year, since the Trust took over the running of the Library- now providing a service 6 days a week with the support of the Vale Council library services. The library includes a catering group who provide wonderful refreshments, and there are computers with one to one support provided at ‘drop in’ sessions run by Hafod Housing and local volunteers. There is plenty of information about local events, as well as a number of clubs, including a book club, crafts and archaeology. Pupils from Rhoose school are frequent visitors – along with older school students on their Duke of Edinburgh Awards work experience.
This is a wonderful example of volunteer support and commitment to the community of Rhoose, and as one trustee said, ‘a good deal of good’ has come out of this development.
