Jane Honours Suffragettes With Women From Across the Vale

It was wonderful to join the 2018 Procession event in Cardiff and to meet so many women’s groups from all over the Vale of Glamorgan. After meeting up first with colleagues Jenny Rathbone AM and Dawn Bowden AM, I joined the Procession 2018, and chatted to WI members from Barry, Dinas Powys and Peterston Super Ely. I also met up with colleagues and friends from the Vale of Glamorgan Labour Women’s Forum,  with their banner. There were also some women from Romilly Road in Barry, who made their banner the night before and joined with the 8,000 who registered to honour the memory of the brave Suffragettes who fought for the vote in 1918.
I remembered the many Suffragettes from Barry,  Including Annie Vaughan Jones from Porth y Castell,  and so many more. It was a moving and inspiring  experience,  and we must now make sure we follow their motto, ‘Deeds not Words.
