Friends, family and colleagues came together to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Jane Hutt’s election as Vale AM in 1999. The Vale Labour Party Women’s Forum organised the surprise party, to thank Jane for all her hard work for the community and people of the Vale since 1999.
A wonderful buffet was provided by the Rainbow Group, and guests, including Julie Morgan AM, local councillors, friends and guests paid tribute to Jane.
Labour Women’s Officer Cllr Sandra Perkes said:
“We wanted to thank Jane for being such an incredible and inspirational Assembly Member, who has worked so hard to make the Vale a better place for us all. I also want to thank everyone who helped to make this event happen, particularly the Rainbow Group, for the wonderful food”
Jane was presented with gifts, including a beautiful artwork commissioned from Barry based artist Katey Clarke. After the event, Jane said:
“I can’t thank everyone enough for the wonderful party today. It was such a surprise, and I felt so moved and thankful to see so many friends there, from so much of my life, and the family too. All the speeches were inspirational, and the food and presents were lovely, and will always be treasured. It all came together in such an amazing way. The party gave us all such a great feeling of hope and optimism. I think one guest, Uzo, summed it up in her African proverb – ‘If you want to go fast – you go alone, if you want to go far – you go in a group.’
Thank you again!”
